home sweet homecoming
Snow White (c) The Walt Disney Co
surprise, surprise, i'm back! you havent heard from me in two months and it's 'coz i've gone cross-country (23 states!), finished two humongous art projects, and best of all, went home to my family. i've talked about my great love for the east coast, but i didnt realise how much i missed the bay area. it's like an old shirt i cant ever discard because it's the most comfortable and most comforting i have. this, by far, is the sweetest homecoming i've ever had. from being my family's sweetheart, to a rebel, into a sweetheart again, i can honestly say i love being ensconced in the family structure. here, i'm a loved one -- an adored daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, and cousin. i have parents, a sister, a grandmother, 20 aunts and uncles, 19 cousins, and now, 2 nephews! can you imagine the noise and clutter we make every weekend? i welcome the noise, because it is twined with the passion for life that is one of my family's traits. the best news of all... my grandmother's miraculous recovery. a month ago, the doctors were giving her days, weeks at the most. the nurses who visit her at home and her caregivers were preparing us for the time course of dying. now, it's the reverse! the turnaround came two weeks ago, when my grandmother started eating. from being distressingly sallow, she's now her usual cream and peach. she has also gone back to watching jeannette macdonald and nelson eddy. and has become very demanding! petulant, when she cant get her way. i adore her. it's like a hand wrestled her out of death's grip, so that many could witness how God works out miracles. Jesus is the only life-giver. He sets our times and our seasons. He restores relationships. He restored me.
